The A.R. Clarke Middle School, originally part of the Senior School, was inaugurated on March 2, 1968, with notable guests including Minister of Education Lindsay Thompson and Archbishop Frank Woods in attendance. Initially known as the "H Block," it housed English, Mathematics, Languages, History and Economics classrooms. Architects Bates, Smart and McCutcheon, along with Charles Smart, designed the building and it was then constructed by Prentice Builders. Over the years it underwent transformations, serving as a locker room and later becoming the Middle School in 1982. In 1993, it was officially named after Mr. A.R. Clarke. The Middle School evolved to include Year 7 and the building's flexible spaces adapted to various educational needs.

Fun Fact: In 1993 Year 7 ceased to be part of Junior School and was moved to Middle School鈥檚 famous "H Block鈥.
